Google Cloud unveils AI-optimised infrastructure enhancements

Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. This capability is expected to materially boost Google Cloud’s performance. Lastly, as Google and other hyperscalers industrialize, it is increasingly evident that compute is migrating to regional hubs of power with friendly development environments. These hubs are revitalizing our industrial stock and evolving into the central backbone of our modern compute industry.

Stockholm Data Center Opened by Telecity Group
Telecity Group announced in mid-November that it has opened a third Stockholm data center.The new facility will serve major local and international network service providers and telecoms with high levels of connectivity. Russia Data Center Selected By Moscow Exchange
In early November, the Moscow Exchange announced that it had selected DataSpace's Moscow data center as its main facility and service provider. Canberra Data Center Planned for SAP
SAP announced in mid-November that it plans to establish a new Australia data center. The company expects to invest more than $130 million into the Canberra data center in order to enhance its service offerings and cloud platform capabilities for government clients in the country. New Michigan Data Center To Open For Online Tech
In mid-November, managed infrastructure provider Online Tech announced it was nearly ready to open its newest Michigan data center. The Detroit data center will represent the fifth facility for the company, which also operates three other Michigan data centers as well as an Indiana data center.Online Tech purchased the structure, which was formerly utilized by Sprint-Nextel, and will invest a total of $10 million to redevelop the site.
