Google Cloud unveils AI-optimised infrastructure enhancements

Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. This capability is expected to materially boost Google Cloud’s performance. Lastly, as Google and other hyperscalers industrialize, it is increasingly evident that compute is migrating to regional hubs of power with friendly development environments. These hubs are revitalizing our industrial stock and evolving into the central backbone of our modern compute industry.

Virginia Data Center Certified By Dominion Power
Dominion Virginia Power announced in mid-November that it had certified a new Virginia data center site. The facility is the first in Stafford County to pass Dominion's strict Data Center Site Certification Program.Only seven other sites hold the Dominion certification seal of approval, making the new Virginia data center a desired commodity in the area. Dominion's certifications are based on evaluations and analysis of more than 30 factors, including geography, available utilities and risk factors. Los Angeles Data Center Planned For Interoute
Interoute announced in mid-November that it will be opening a Los Angeles data center. Pennsylvania Modular Data Center Being Built By Keystone NAP
Keystone NAP announced in mid-November that it plans to create a new Pennsylvania data center. The facility is being constructed on the site of a former U.S. Steel Corp. mill in Bucks County and will be built using a modular data center approach. Iowa Data Center Opened By Facebook
In mid-November, social media giant Facebook announced the opening of its newest Iowa data center in Altoona.
