Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. Arizona Data Center Conversion Started By Apple
Apple announced in early February that it will be opening a new Arizona data center. The facility, which formerly belonged to GT Advanced, is being converted from a sapphire manufacturing plant and is expected to cost around $2 billion. Poland Data Center Planned For Beyond.pl
Polish cloud and colocation firm Beyond.pl announced in early February that it began construction on a Poland data center that will be the country's biggest facility once completed.The facility, located just outside the city of Poznań, is the second Poland data center built by Beyond.pl and planned for completion at the end of 2015. Data center and cloud exchange provider Equinix announced in late January that it acquired professional IT services company Nimbo. Nimbo focuses primarily on enterprise cloud infrastructure, making it an ideal partnership for Equinix. The company provides consulting that helps businesses move legacy systems into a hybrid cloud infrastructure and connect existing data centers to the cloud.
