Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. This capability is expected to materially boost Google Cloud’s performance. Georgia Data Center Bought By Carter Validus
A Georgia data center was bought recently by Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT. This company, which purchases high-value data centers and hospitals in order to secure long-term rent revenue, currently owns almost 20 data centers. The Atlanta data center was originally built in 1999. It is a 165,000 square foot facility with 50,000 square feet of raised floor space and 10 MW of available power. Montreal Data Center Nearing Completion For Cogeco Data Services
Cogeco Data Services announced in mid-February that it is opening a new Montreal data center.The facility is currently under construction and will offer 100,000 square feet of available space when it is completed. The state-of-the-art facility is being designed to meet Tier III certification standards and will offer increased access to advanced colocation, managed IT and cloud services for customers in the area. Global data center service provider CyrusOne, which last year bolstered its East Coast presence by adding a northern Virginia Data Center, posted its earnings for 2014 this February. The company specializes in working with Fortune 1000 companies, allowing it to offer premium services to high-profile customers. Europe Data Centers Announced By Apple
Apple announced in late February that it is investing nearly $2 billion in the creation of two Europe data centers. The new facilities, located in Ireland and Denmark, will offer a total of 1.7 million square feet of available space. Dublin Data Center Construction Started By TelecityGroup
TelecityGroup announced in late February that it has started construction on its newest Ireland data center. The facility will be the company's fourth site in Dublin.The new Dublin data center will offer more than 26,000 square feet of customer capacity and will host international, national and local Tier 1 and 2 carriers, ISPs and content distribution networks to provide access to transatlantic connectivity.
