New Jersey Data Center Selected by West Windsor Township for Disaster Recovery

Custom infrastructure solution provider NYI announced in early December that West Windsor Township had selected its New Jersey data center for its production and disaster recovery services.

West Windsor Township, located in Mercer County, New Jersey, already utilizes NYI's MigrAssist data center migration service to support its move into the new facility. In this way, the township will take part in a multi-phased, customized migration strategy and upgrade its IT infrastructure.

Before selecting NYI's New Jersey data center, West Windsor Township was utilizing a tape backup system in connection with a virtualized infrastructure and de-duplication architecture for offsite disaster recovery. When it came time to upgrade, officials opted for NYI's 40,000 square-foot New Jersey data center, featuring a location within the state's fiber-based 287 tech corridor, also known as the Magic Mile.

"NYI's expert support proved quite valuable in our migration from an old, outdated IT architecture to one that leverages best-in-breed technology," noted Christopher Wade, West Windsor Township's network and systems engineer. "By moving to NYI's fully redundant and secure facility, I was able to adhere to state guidelines and compliance regulations, as well as greatly enhance our business continuity plan – saving us time and money in the long run."

NYI's New Jersey data center has 5 MW of available power accessible via the redundant, uninterruptible power supply system, with the option to expand to 20 MW of power in the future. The facility also features 2N generator configuration as well as a 11,000-gallon fuel tank to keep operations running at full capacity for up to 72 hours in the event of a utility interruption. The data center is also compliant with several industry regulations, including SSAE16, HIPAA and PCI. Overall, the New Jersey data center boasts 99.9999 percent uptime.

NYI also operates a New York City data center which serves as its primary facility and company headquarters.
