Virginia Data Center Expansion Completed By CoreSite Realty

CoreSite Realty Corporation announced in early January that its second Virginia data center is officially open.

The facility is the second building on CoreSite's Reston campus. The Virginia data center offers 198,000 square feet of available space. The first phase, comprising 50,000 square feet of turn-key data center capacity, has already been 100 percent leased by a single anchor tenant. The second phase is now under construction, adding an extra 50,000 square feet to the facility. Phase 2 is expected to reach completion in the second quarter of 2015. Combined with the first Reston facility, the Virginia data center campus totals more than 460,000 square feet.

"We are pleased to open the first phase of VA2 fully leased to an anchor customer, consistent with our strategy for the facility," said CoreSite CEO Tom Ray. "Further, we believe that the nearly 60 network, cloud and IT service providers already deployed at our Reston campus combined with our market-leading network ecosystem at DC1 and the scalability offered at VA2 to enable CoreSite to offer one of the most comprehensive solutions in the region for performance-sensitive customer requirements."

CoreSite focused on providing enhanced connectivity with its new Virginia data center. The facility offers customers access to almost 60 different service providers, as well as interconnection with Amazon Web Services Direct Connect. Direct, low-latency access to and from Ashburn data centers and facilities in Washington, D.C. are also made possible.

The site ensures a 100 percent uptime SLA guarantee and a portfolio record of six 9s uptime for the last four years. Customers can choose from a variety of flexible solutions including cabinets, cages and custom-configured private suites.
