CyrusOne recently announced the expansion of its Cincinnati data center, which came as a response to increased customer needs in the area.
Cincinnati Data Center Expansion
The Ohio data center expansion included the addition of 20,000 square feet of space and 2.25 megawatts of power capacity to support CyrusOne’s growing customer base. In total, the data center is now comprised of 212,000 square feet and can provide 12 megawatts of power. The company stated that a main motivation for the addition was to meet 100 percent uptime service level agreements for customers.
According to CyrusOne, the data center has unique power, cooling, security and fire protection features, as well as nearby amenities for clients. The facility features multiple levels of power redundancy to maintain optimal uptime, and an efficient cooling system which includes a closed loop chilled water cooling design.
To keep customer data secure, the data center also has seven levels of security access, video surveillance, and cabinet and cage security options, including locks and biometric scanners.
Furthermore, the data center’s location offers proximity to unique features of downtown Cincinnati, where CyrusOne is the largest data center operator.
“CyrusOne’s downtown Cincinnati data center is a key hub of our Midwest operation and is designed to enable multiple levels of redundancy (2N, N+1, and N) in the same data hall, allowing customers to choose the level that best meets their need and budget,” said CyrusOne CTO Kevin Timmons.
Growing Customer Base
Timmons also said the company’s growing customer base enabled it to add to its data center facility in Ohio. He said there have been increasing client demands for data colocation space and services, as well as a need for advanced facilities providing optimum resiliency and redundancy.
Currently, the company operates 25 data center facilities in the U.S., Europe and Asia, serving an expanding customer base that includes nine Fortune 20 companies and more than 125 Fortune 1000 organizations.
