Colorado Data Center Obtains Financing, Construction Begins

According to recent press, the Vineyard, in partnership with Iron Point Capital Partners and T5 Data Centers, has started construction of a US$800m data center in Colorado, the first phase of which will be complete in Q1, 2014. The 64-acre site will deliver 100MW of available power with sustainable, eco-friendly design and power rates of $0.044 per kWh. Free cooling will be available all year. The facility is intended for either single-tenant or wholesale colocation with Tier II, III, or IV design flexibility to service cloud, big data or high performance computing. The location also is strategically close to the Denver Technology Center, a technology and telecommunications hub and will serve as a central data relay center to lower latency for business-critical enterprise applications from coast to coast. Executives expect the new data center campus to create 400 – 600 new jobs in the area.
