Washington Data Center Construction Started By Sabey Data Centers

Sabey Data Centers announced in mid-March that construction has started on its second Washington data center.

The new facility will be located on the company's existing campus in Quincy, one of the primary Washington state data center markets. The town is approximately 150 miles east of Seattle and Tacoma. The second complex is being built in order to handle the increasing demand for the company's services, as its first site is nearly full. Nearly 1 MW of capacity has already been pre-leased for the new building.

The Washington data center will offer an additional 135,000 square feet to the Quincy campus, bringing the facility to a total of 400,000 square feet. The site will also provide support for 10.5 MW of IT load when it is fully complete and will have enough power and space to support a third building in the future. The first 2.7 MW pod is expected to come online in October, according to Sabey Data Centers President John Sabey.

Sabey's second Quincy facility is also being built in order to respond to increased demand for multiple levels of infrastructure redundancy within the same data center.

"We have the ability, through our design, to actually provide customers with varying resiliency within the same suites," Sabey said.

Quincy is an appealing location for new Washington data centers because of the area's abundant supply of low-cost hydropower due to its proximity to the Columbia River, low risk of natural disaster and data center tax incentives on sales tax for equipment purchases.

Along with its Quincy data centers, Sabey also operates a variety of other facilities in Washington state, including a Seattle data center and Wenatchee data center, and as well as a New York data center and an Ashburn data center.
