A new Thailand data center will be opened by the WHA Corporation in a joint venture with NTT Facilities. WHA Corporation is a leader in the region in terms of logistics and warehouses, whereas NTT Facilities is a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation that specializes in developing data centers.
This will be one of several data centers built by NTT in Thailand, but the majority holding partner will be the WHA Corporation, which intends to use the center for logistics in its Asian businesses.
The data center has been pushed for by local politicians as a stepping stone to Thailand becoming a digital hub in the region. The Deputy Prime Minister, Pridiyathorn Devakula, has offered support through data center tax incentives in the Board of Investment in Thailand.
"[The] data center will be a significant step for develop the country's economy," said WHA's chief executive Somyos Anantaprayoon.
Thailand's data center market has been boosted through tax credits recently. Earlier in 2015, Thailand's Board of Investment of Thailand approved pouring $30.8 million into two data centers through subsidies.
