Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. This capability is expected to materially boost Google Cloud’s performance.   • Sweden Data Center Planned For Interxion

    European colocation data center provider Interxion announced in September that it will be expanding its Sweden data center presence, opening a Stockholm data center due to rising customer demand.The facility, known as STO4, will be built on Interxion's existing Stockholm campus in Kista. The site currently has almost 50 carriers and ISPs available, as well as direct access to the Netnod Internet Exchange.The project is expected to offer more than 11,000 square feet and approximately 1.5 MW of available power.   • Ohio Data Center Announced for Expedient

    Toward the beginning of September, data center colocation and cloud service provider Expedient announced the groundbreaking of a new Ohio data center in Dublin. Construction of the 60,000 square foot facility will be carried out in phases, with the initial phase currently commencing.The first phase, slated for completion in 2015, will cost an estimated $22 million and will neighbor the data centers of Amazon, IBM and Compass in the Shier Rings TechFlex District.
