Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. This capability is expected to materially boost Google Cloud’s performance. Lastly, as Google and other hyperscalers industrialize, it is increasingly evident that compute is migrating to regional hubs of power with friendly development environments. These hubs are revitalizing our industrial stock and evolving into the central backbone of our modern compute industry.

Utah Data Center Expanded To Phase 2 By C7 Data Centers
A Utah data center has begun Phase 2 of its construction. The facility, owned by C7 Data Centers, will be adding 30,000 square feet to its existing 35,000 square feet by October 2015. The growing structure will have over 11 megawatts powering the overall campus owned by C7, which includes 250,000 square feet of buildings in total. The facility utilizes the geographical peculiarities of Utah to allow it cheaper cooling strategies. The cold desert climate allows the facility to use ambient air and cold air containment to mitigate the variable server heat loads. This enables it to be roughly 20 percent more efficient in terms of allocating power...
Equinix Buys Rival Data Center Operator Telecity
Equinix, a major American data center provider, came to agreement with its rival Telecity to purchase the company on May 29, 2015. Telecity Group is based in the U.K., and will be compensated $3.60 billion for the purchase. Telecity shareholders will still own roughly 10.1% of the combined group, including shares in Equinix. Following news of the merger, it may be difficult for Interxion to deal with the financial firepower of a combined Equinix - Telecity company. "Having carefully considered all our options, the...
