Wholesale data center and colocation services provider H5 Data Centers purchased a Virginia data center in Ashburn in early June. The company's plan is to turn the building into a move-in-ready facility or build-to-suit project, then look to lease the space to a single tenant.
"We're looking for a large, sophisticated user to take over, but we can also provide the capital and work to get it even more ready," said H5 Chief Operating Officer David Dunn.
The facility has a total of 70,000 square feet of powered shell data center space, and it can be expanded up to 100,000 square feet.
Dunn also mentioned that H5 is working with the local utility company to enhance the power capacity of the facility. The building currently has 8.5 MW of power, and there are 3 MW available immediately.
H5 owns infrastructure around the U.S., including an Atlanta data center, a Charlotte data center, a San Jose data center, a San Luis Obispo data center and a Seattle data center. The Ashburn facility is the company's first in Virginia.
