South Africa Data Center Upgrade Funded By Teraco Data Environments

South Africa data center operator Teraco Data Environments recently received $34 hundred million to fund its data center upgrades. Teraco CEO Lex van Wyk  has overseen the additions of Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town data centers in the last three years, as well as a power plant that powers 6,000 square meters of data center space.

There has been increasing demand for Teraco's services, as South Africa has embraced the Internet and cloud computing. Van Wyk expects the market to continue to grow as the company places more facilities and modernizes the Internet infrastructure of South Africa.

Teraco's other investments, besides operating data centers, have included connecting business to submarine cable systems and assisting South African businesses with IT equipment rollouts.  They have access to 28 cable landing points across the East and West sides of South Africa.

"Telecoms is an exciting industry to be in right now – it is at the heart of the explosive innovation and growth that's centered around the Internet," said van Wyk.
