New York Data Center Being Constructed by mindSHIFT

Toward the end of April, mindSHIFT Technologies announced that it had signed an agreement to construct a new New York data center and office space in Commack, which is on Long Island about 30 miles east of the New York City borough of Queens. The facility is an investment by Ricoh, a major technology company, to add new information technology services in the area.

The New York data center will have 20,000 feet of raised floor and office space, and will undergo a two-phase production. At the end of the production, the facility will have access to 6 megawatts of electrical capacity, 2N uninterrupted power systems, N 1 emergency generator support and high-tech cooling technologies, as well redundant connectivity with multiple fiber providers.

Clients interested in leasing the space will be able to use it as either a daily operations site, or as a disaster recovery data center for holding back-up information.

A large IT outsourcing organization, mindSHIFT Technologies primarily serves small and mid-size businesses. The company offers IT outsourcing as well as data center leasing to client companies, providing services including managed hosting, colocation, disaster recovery and Web hosting. In addition, the provider offers public cloud services and VoIP for groups that require those options.
