Google has announced game-changing updates to its AI-optimized cloud, featuring fifth-generation TPUs and NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Companies like Gridspace have reported a 5x increase in AI model training speed using the TPU v5e. This move highlights the demands of generative AI and large language models, which have seen their ‘parameters’ increase tenfold annually. Another notable advancement is the introduction of Multislice technology, which supports scaling of AI models beyond the physical limits of TPU pods. This capability is expected to materially boost Google Cloud’s performance.   • London Data Center Site For Interxion And NexGen Partnership

    Europe-based colocation and data center services provider Interxion announced mid-July a partnership with fiber-optic services company NexGen. The partnership means that NexGen will extend its private Ethernet service into Interxion's London data center.     Data center and colocation services provider Digital Realty announced that a public offering of 10.5 million shares of its common stock would sell for $68.00 per share. The nearly $700 million in common stock offerings will go to purchasers according to forward sale agreements.The company is expected by industry analysts to post second quarter earnings of $1.25 per share and have a mean consensus price target of $70.50 on the New York Stock Exchange, or between $77 and $59.     Amazon Web Services announced in mid-July that it is creating a new North Carolina wind farm in order to power the company's current and future data centers.     Colocation services provider Digital Realty announced mid-July its intent to purchase the U.S.-based data center solutions company Telx for $1.9 billion. This news confirms rumors that have circulated for a few months.The deal will effectively double Digital Realty's global data center footprint. Telx manages 1.3 million square feet of data center real estate from 20 buildings around the U.S., including some facilities that are already owned by Digital Realty.   • Memphis Data Center Reopened By Expedient

    Colocation services company Expedient announced mid-July that it would be reopening a former Memphis data center. The facility, which was previously owned by Hilton Hotels and used as an enterprise data center, will now be used for colocation. The building is 35,000 square feet, and Expedient recently invested $9 million in upgrades ahead of the opening.Expedient already has ten other facilities, including a Pittsburgh data center, Cleveland data center, Indianapolis data center and Columbus data center.
