New Hampshire Data Center Planned By FairPoint Communications

FairPoint Communications, Inc. announced in late February that it plans to open a second New Hampshire data center.

FairPoint, a leading provider of advanced communications technology in the New England area, opened a facility in Laconia, New Hampshire, in June 2014. The new site is planned for Manchester.

"We've seen tremendous interest in data center services since we opened our data center in Laconia, N.H.," said Chris Alberding, FairPoint Communications vice president of product management. "With an additional data center location, we'll be able to provide more businesses – both within and outside of our service area – with secure data center services."

Both New Hampshire data centers offer strictly controlled environments with essential power, cooling, security and connectivity features. Customers have access to northern New England's largest fiber network, covering 16,000 route-miles. Along with a substantial fiber network, the facility also offers clients the ability to leverage carrier Ethernet services at speeds as fast as 1 Gbps.

The highly secure facility employs around-the-clock video monitoring and keycard access in an effort to attract banks, hospitals and government agencies. It is being built in a physically secure and reliable location and is designed with safety and power backup features in order to withstand adverse weather conditions like blizzards.
