Data Center Finance: Equinix Acquires Nimbo

Data center and cloud exchange provider Equinix announced in late January that it acquired professional IT services company Nimbo.

Nimbo focuses primarily on enterprise cloud infrastructure, making it an ideal partnership for Equinix. The company provides consulting that helps businesses move legacy systems into a hybrid cloud infrastructure and connect existing data centers to the cloud. Nimbo has experience with a variety of platforms, and is a certified partner of both Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

The acquisition allows Equinix to access Nimbo’s portfolio in order to improve its own IT professional services offerings, which are currently geared specifically to data center migrations and hybrid cloud solutions.

“With our acquisition of Nimbo, we have expanded our ability to help customers leverage our unique cloud-density and Cloud Exchange value propositions and assist with the design and deployment of hybrid cloud solutions,” said Equinix CSO Pete Hayes.

The financial aspects of the purchase have not been released, but Equinix did share Nimbo’s revenue from 2014, which was less than $10 million.
