Clean Room Data Center Conversions Going Mainstream

I’m often asked whether building or buying is the right path, and the answer for many firms, both now and over the last 10 years, has been to either purchase and improve or convert. Specifically, as acquiring redundant or bankrupt telecom assess becomes more difficult, clean room conversions are becoming a recognized strategy for achieving two important objectives: 1) getting to first MW fast and 2) doing so at a significant discount to greenfield, estimated at between 30 to 40 percent. There’s more, like the opportunity for natural top-down cooling that improves PUE. The following are several recent conversion projects:

– 1000 Fortune Drive, Silicon Valley

– Digital Realty Trust, 800 Central Expressway, Silicon Valley

– Verizon Telecom, Colorado Springs
