Chicago Data Center Officially Open for Windstream Hosted Solutions

Windstream Hosted Solutions announced in September that its newest Chicago data center is officially open.

The Illinois data center is a 20,000 square foot facility and includes more than 15,600 square feet of available data center space. The building is also equipped to host Windstream’s new EMC(R)-powered storage services, as well as its Hosted Solutions Suite which offers public, private and hybrid cloud service offerings.

The Chicago data center will offer a variety of features, including a modular design for simple capacity scalability and high redundancy and utility capability of 3,600 kVa with the ability to expand to five times that amount if necessary. The facility also features 800 tons of cooling capacity capable of keeping the building’s inside temperature at a constant 74 degrees.

“The Chicago multi-tenant data center market has experienced a supply/demand imbalance in the Western suburbs, as well as in downtown Chicago, for several years now,” said Rick Kurtzbein, research analyst at 451 Research. “Windstream’s new MTDC facility offers enterprise-quality colocation services, as well as a suite of managed hosting and cloud infrastructure services, providing Fortune 1000 companies with data center services that we expect will be well received in the active Chicago MTDC market.”

Windstream currently owns more than 20 facilities across the country, including multiple North Carolina and Pennsylvania data centers. The company is also actively increasing their capital investments in developing its data center operations.
